Land of the Midnight Street View

According to Life in the Knife, the capital city of Canada's Northwest Territories, Yellowknife, is being photographed by Google Street View.

Also, according to CBC News, the not-so-nearby city of Whitehorse (in Canada's Yukon territory) is also being covered. The driver of that car was told not to conduct any interviews, but said that he'd been driving through Whitehorse for the past three days.

The Canadian Street View release should be huge.

Whitehorse is not to far from Juneau, Alaska, and I have spotted two different Google cars re-scanning the spotty coverage that Juneau has. The cars have also been spotted throught South East Alaska, as well as three Google jets in the small Juneau airport. More info at http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/072209/loc_467527976.shtml

WoW just looked at Juneau's coverage. It looks like they ran through it with a hatchet after they patched the imagery together. lol. I am glad their redoing it then. Maybe they won't use the scissor tool after their done this time:).

I wish Google would include Palmer (where I lived for 15 years), Big Lake and Wasilla, Alaska in their coverage. I'd love to see how all of these locations look now, maybe see my old house. Right now even the satellite imagery is the lowest possible resolution of my old neighborhood (in Google Maps/Earth).

These towns are all an hour to an hour and half drive from Anchorage, so I'm curious why they weren't included with the first phase. Hopefully, they'll be included in the next phase.

Of course, it would be great to get other Alaska towns, i.e. Homer, Valdez and Kenai, etc.
