Surprise! (okay, not really.)

Thank you, Claudia!

In the United States, it's Election Day, and to commemorate this, Google has released Street View in the District of Columbia. Not only that, but the biggest surprise of all: Seattle has also been released! Baltimore, Maryland, has also been added, and you read more about the release at Google Latlong.

  1. Washington, DC
  2. Seattle, WA
There are two more camera icons, and Washington, DC's icon includes Baltimore, Maryland. So there are now exactly 100 Street View locations!

The local news in Baltimore this evening said the delay in the release of Street View in Baltimore-Washington had nothing to do with security, like many of us had speculated. They said that Google had to reshoot many of the images of this area at higher resolutions.

in looking around my old neighborhood in seattle, i came across a group of images that have problems. type in "3316 ne 95th st, 98115" and proceed eastbound until the intersection of ne 95th and 40th ave ne. what the heck happened to the right side of the images? i'd like to let the peeps at google maps know about this so they can reshoot it. anyone know where i send this type of inquiry?

Sorry. I wouldn't know who to send it to, but I've added a post on the blog. It's a very interesting camera error (I think) because it only is weird on the clouds, not the trees. :-S Thanks for showing us!
